AI tools have made it possible to make prototypes of our ideas with a simple explanation of what they are. More interesting is the fact that they are quite affordable; most of them cost about $20 for their pro versions.
At the same time, they are not equal in their capabilities, and their costs are also a factor to consider. After trying the free versions of at least 4 AI coding tools, I found a sweet spot at Windsurf.
I have more than 80 projects I have created with Windsurf –

But I am listing the ones that are fair enough to be on the Internet. Some of them, I might rebuild based on the traffic they bring in.
1. Stick Figure Generator
This tool helps you create stick figure characters that can be downloaded as PNGs. It is built completely with Windsurf and hosted on my Hosting.com account
My website is a WordPress site, but the stickfigure generator is hosted directly under a subfolder in my site’s folder. It’s possible to make it into a plugin and host it directly under WordPress, as I did for this Temporary URL Generator.
2. Temporary URL Generator
Windsurf helped me build this free temporary URL generator. All the projects I am sharing here are built solely with Windsurf. No input from any other AI tool. I built this tool before Sonnet Claude 3.7, I think it was built mainly with Windsurf 3.5
3. Bible Verse to PNG Converter
This tool converts any bible verse of your choice into a PNG you can download. If I get some traction, I’ll add more versions to the options from which you can convert. It’s quite impressive Windsurf was able to build this.
Note that sometimes, you’d have to carry out some research with ChatGPT to understand what the AI coding tool will be doing for you. In this case, I had to find a datasource that contained all verses in the Bible – I found some on Github, and that is what I fed into Windsurf to create this.
For context, I am a non-coder.
4. Bible Reader with Time
Bible Reader with Time helps you count how long you’ve read your bible. So, for now, this information is stored per device there is no registration system yet. This is just an idea I got while reading my Bible; it could be far better than it is, but I am not sure many people would need this yet.
Note that, many times I just feed my ideas into WindSurf and see what it can come up with. The first attempt is usually impressive.
Windsurf is quite affordable for the kind of quality it produces although some other tools like Cursor and Loveable have more buzz around them.
5. Google Search Operator Builder
This tool was literally built from a blog post made by Ahrefs.
I just shared the URL of the post with Windsurf and asked it to make a Google Search Operator Builder from it.
Are there more things you can build? Yes, definitely.
With the same idea, I built a tool that uses X’s search operators to help search for queries on X.
LinkedIn also has some advanced search queries, you can build a tool around it.
Now, building a tool is no longer a problem as it used to be – the important thing is getting traffic to what you’ve built.
6. Text to PNG Converter
With this tool, you can convert any text to PNG and download it.
There are many tools that do the same thing already, so getting traffic to it might be a bit difficult, but I did it Windsurf, anyway.
If you notice, most of the tools listed on this page are built with just basic JavaScript, CSS, and HTML.
I specifically include that in my prompts so that I don’t have to deal with a backend and frontend system, especially with the hosting.
In addition to that, it’s easier for me to have a rough idea of what is created, especially as a non-coder.
7. Transcription to Word-Count Calculator
This was really built for me to use, I mean, I need a tool that will help me calculate how long it would take me to say some words.
I fired up Windsurf, and after a few back and forth, this is what I got.
I decided to host in case there are other people on the internet space who need something like this.
8. Tweet Engagement Calculator
This is another tool I really needed; in fact, I had made it before realizing a tool was already existing for the function.
Fortunately, I was able to create mine to meet my specific needs. That is what AI coding tools have made possible for everyone.
The interesting thing is, I have more than sufficient credits to use every month for all my trial projects.
I pay just $10 monthly for the pro version of Windsurf.
9. Twitter Advanced Search Builder
This is similar to the Google Search Builder Tool, it helps you find any query on X. Yeah, I know twitter has an official page where you can do this but I noticed that once you carry out a search, the page redirects to your search page and you can’t go back to edit your query except you enter in the URL of the page from the scratch.
This tool I built solves that problem.
Are there other things I have built with Windsurf?
I built an Excel dashboard as a first-time user of VBA. I knew nothing about macros and whatnot, but I made $150 from that project.
I also wrote a custom script that helps with copying results from a search in Google Sheets. I called it Auto Copy Search Matches (for Google Sheets)
Auto Copy Search Matches is a simple Google Sheets tool that lets you search for multiple terms and instantly copy all matching rows into a clean “Search Results” sheet.
No formulas. No manual filtering. Just type, search, and get results — complete with matched keywords.
✅ Supports multiple search terms
✅ Keeps your original data safe
✅ Adds a column showing what was matched
✅ Includes one-click clear/reset function
Ideal for researchers, data reviewers, recruiters, and anyone who needs to quickly filter and extract relevant data.
If you like to have it, you can get it here
In addition, my major assistant for scraping data, organizing, parsing, and classifying while building localizednewsletters.com was Windsurf. I used it heavily; in fact, it was working all night, scraping while I slept.
I also have 2 Chrome extensions living on my browser, both made with Windsurf.
One helps me scrape data from Google Search in batches. So it crawls through search result pages in multiples of 10 and copies all the results into a spreadsheet,t which I can download. It makes scraping faster for me.
The second one is the extension equivalent of the X Advance Search Tool I built.
I hope you’re inspired. My goal is to show what is possible to make with Windsurf by a non-programmer.
I know coders will be able to make more complicated and useful tools with WindSurf.
If you would like to give it a try, please use the link below (I’ll get some free credits if you do. Thank you in advance.
