Making Money Online with Michael Adegoke

Introduction

I guess it would be redundant if I started by saying “Making Money Online is now easier than it used to be”. I should probably start with:

“You don’t need to learn any new thing to make money online, except learning that you don’t need to learn any new thing to make money online”

Michael Adegoke

That sounds like a quotable quote, right? This is where you clap for me and go ‘hmmm’, with a soft nod.

But seriously, this book is entirely written to prove that you can start making money as you are.

In fact, you can start your online money journey today and begin to cash out in the next one, two, three, x months.

If I am allowed to express strong opinions, I would say:

“If you have lived for at least 18 years on earth, you have all it takes to make money on the internet”

Michael Adegoke

The first question that might come to your mind is – “why 18?”

That’s just because it’s the official age the constitution of many countries recognizes her citizens as adults who can carry out some civil responsibilities.

I could have chosen any other random number. The perfect random one would be your age.

Why would any number work? Because even children make money online.

I mean, 2-year-olds – with the help of their parents. So there are literally no limits.

You may also ask, with your hands pointing accusatively at me – “What about you?”

I get it. It’s normal. I would also ask such a question if I were in your shoes (that’s if you wear shoes, some people wear only sandals).

In less than 2 years, I have made $8433 from Fiverr without certification in any skill.

I have made money online since 2020 and I am still making money online as you read these words. That number might not be a lot, but for someone living in a third-world country, it’s cool.

And that’s not all I have made online, it’s far more than that.

I have built and flipped many websites, and worked for clients across the globe and I am still exploring new opportunities as you read.

By the way, do you know you have read up to 387 words and 2024 characters words at this point? Bravo, well done. That is a right step in the right direction and thank you for giving me your audience, I appreciate it. Did you notice the 2024 characters and I am writing this book in 2024?

I honestly didn’t plan it maybe there is more to it, tell me if you figure out a deep insight from it. I’ll be happy to see if it has a deep meaning.

So as I was saying, I am here to spur you up.

I mean to shatter your excuses, or take your excuses and turn them into the very reason you should be making money online. For instance, if your excuse is having a phone with a blurry camera – do you know people have trended for posting blurry images and videos?

See, I would not just talk – I would show you examples.

We’re going to explore 21 questions that will guide you in discovering aspects of you that you can leverage to make money online starting from today.

Now I wrote those 21 questions in one draft off the top of my head, so nothing spectacular about it. However, I think 21 is a significant number in the sense that it’s a multiple of 7 which stands for perfection. But I wouldn’t mind shattering that perfection if I discover another question as I write to make it 22. The goal is to help you as much as I can, not to have a perfect-looking or perfect-sounding book. Who cares?

Nothing gives me more joy than that. See, the first $4000 I ever received was the one I helped one of my employees to receive through Payoneer when I had not made such an amount of money at once myself. But I did with so much joy without collecting a dime from her. Not long after that, I did receive a sum higher than that.

So let’s get to the questions.

Question 1: Do you have peculiar physical abilities?

I chose to start with this question because every human being is ‘physical’, that’s why we can live. By ‘physical abilities’ I mean anything you can do with your body skillfully that is not common to everybody. For example, running. Many people can run, in fact, everyone can run to an extent but not everyone can run skillfully. I will go through a few examples so you see what I mean.

Examples of Physical Talents

  • Running
  • Gymnastic abilities
  • Swimming
  • Robotic Body Movement/Expressions
  • Smiling
  • Dancing

How to Make Money with Physical Abilities

You can make money with your physical abilities by creating content on Social Media or creating services on freelancing platforms like Fiverr. You don’t have to be a professional at whatever you do. Social Media gives everyone a level playing ground. Let’s take a few examples of regular people making money with their physical abilities.

Examples of People Making Money with Physical Abilities

Jardrolita

This is an excellent example of someone who came into the limelight using her robotic skills. I’m sure you probably heard of her before now but if not, you can check her accounts below.

a. Facebook –  @jadrolita

This lady took advantage of people’s opinions about her as a child to create an AI character that is now lucrative. According to her, people opined that she behaved cartoon-like and that gave her the confidence to pick up the AI character.

Is she the only AI model? No.

In fact, she says her mentor is @pinkydoll, who currently has 1.7M followers on TikTok as at the time of this writing.

https://www.tiktok.com/@pinkydollreal/video/7374062211817295109

How can you make money with AI Acting?

Obviously, you may not be another Jardrolita or Pinkydoll or any of the other human AI on various Social Media platforms. Just so you know, if you do a search for ‘human AII’ on any Social Media Platform, you will find several of them.

So how do you stand out, how can you make money with this ability without competing?

I’ll give you 2 ideas.

1. Niche

You can pair up your AI acting skill with any other aspect of your life that you are knowledgeable about. For instance, if you’re a nurse, you can pick up a character as an AI Nurse. As an AI, you create content around your daily activities in the hospital. You can also enlighten people about some healthy tips for daily living while creating content with an AI character. So you’ll be like an AI nurse. I have seen several nurses on Social Media platforms educating people but I have not seen one doing it with an AI character.

You can also be an AI that speaks an indigenous language. For instance, if you’re in Nigeria – you could be a Yoruba-speaking AI I don’t know of one at the moment. Of course, you can pick any other language.

There is something unique about you that you can mash up to make a different type of AI character. Jardrolita may not have a degree in Music but you do, think of how you can merge that. You may have a handiwork as an Electrician but Pinkydoll doesn’t, think of how to merge that and create something different.

If you love taking care of children and you’re good at swimming you can focus on teaching children how to swim.

I mean, you don’t have to focus on teaching one or two children, when you can teach millions of children all over the world through Social Media and make much more money.

The more you think, the more opportunities you will find.

2. Freelancing

With excellent AI-acting, you can sell custom AI-acted videos on platforms like Fiverr. I mean, you create a gig on Fiverr.com and users can make specific demands on the content they want you to create as an AI, you create the video, send it to them and you get paid. I don’t think the popular human – Ais will be open to such projects.

These are examples of people offering AI audio recording gigs on Fiverr.

Fiverr is versatile because it allows you to create virtually any kind of gig (service you’re willing to render) and you will get buyers from all over the world coming to buy your services.

Vfly Mon Ster

This guy is an extraordinary jumper, a stunt master. He calls himself a monster. His jumping ability has got him featured on BBC.

This guy currently has 135k followers on his Instagram which means he can:

  1. Make Money from brand partnership
  2. Make Money from selling courses
  3. Make Money from Selling Digital/Physical Products

Vfly Mon Ster has also attended Americans Got Talent.

Before becoming popular, Victor was a hustler washing bitter leaves to sell in the market. One out of 8 children of his Bayelsan parents, but his story changed when he decided to use his body positively and document his abilities on the internet.

Question 2: Do you have peculiar physical features?

Every human has a body.

Of course, that is why we’re humans. However, there are some physical features that are unique to some people. For instance, while everyone has hair on their head, some people have an uncommon kind of hair like this Nigerian lady who has an Asian-like hair texture.

You may or may not make money directly with that physical feature but combining it with another talent or advantage you have might yield a lucrative return. For instance, you can combine a degree in Mass Communication with a good speaking voice. This can give you an entry point into making voiceovers for people all over the world. If you speak an indigenous language or a foreign language, that becomes an additional advantage.

Examples of Peculiar Physical Features

  • Long hair
  • Smiling
  • Good skin
  • Peculiar voice

Examples of People Making Money with Peculiar Physical Features

theintentionaltwinmum

The intentional mum is a mother of 4 who creates content around her daily living as a mother. One striking physical feature she has is her Asian hair. She has hair that’s different from the regular kinky African hair. In fact, I saw one of her children with the same kind of hair.

While Rachel doesn’t create content about her hair, the hair is an attraction that gets people to engage with her content. Making content about the hair alone is enough to yield a lot of money but she chose to go the motherhood route.

She currently has 34.33k followers on Instagram after losing her first account.

The point here is creating content directly around a peculiar physical feature you have can make you money, but it can also be a way to make money indirectly when combined with some other advantages you possess.

Question 3. Do you have Natural Abilities?

Natural intelligent activities you can carry in your body that are creative and are not done by everyone at the degree of perfection at which you do them.

For instance, everyone sings but not everyone is good with singing. So singing is a natural ability. Another example is mimicry, some people are so good at mimicking others for fun. But do you know this gift can be monetized? At least I know one person who makes money from this creatively.

Examples of Natural Abilities

  • Singing
  • Mimicry
  • Playing on Words

Examples of People Making Money with Physical Abilities

For each of the natural abilities I cited above, I’ll give you an example let’s begin with singing

Singing –  ChrissyOnAir

Singing is one talent I don’t need to give you an example of. There are millions of people all over the world who sing exceptionally. But how you get the attention of people and ultimately monetize the skill is what matters. I should probably say at this point that you may also know a few people who have no vocal skills but are making money with music.

For all of the talents/abilities, I’ll be talking about, what makes the difference is ‘niching’ and ‘monetization strategy’. How do you do what you do in a different way? What are people doing already? Is there a new blend you can bring to life that no one else has ever brought? For example, Chrissy is obviously not Nigerian.

But Chrissy chose to niche in Nigerian songs. She does covers of popular Nigerian songs and that gets her a lot of attention. First, it is captivating for Nigerians and Africans to see a Westerner singing their lyrics with accuracy and Nigerian music is no longer restricted to Africans. Many people from all over the world have Nigerian songs on their playlists. This gives Chrissy a very wide audience.

Shay Alore who has 76.7k followers on TikTok focuses on making mashups. Chrissy currently has 512k subscribers on YouTube.

https://www.tiktok.com/@shayalore/video/7352899675055344929?is_from_webapp=1&sender_device=pc&web_id=7363010288302392837

What’s in this for you?

If you’re looking to make money from singing, you need to determine what your comfort zone is musically. And then find an untapped niche where you can explore and reach out to a wide range of audiences. You can take advantage of what I call creative mental tension.

Creative mental tension is a situation where the attention of an audience is sustained because they are perceiving what they would normally perceive in a typical condition in a totally different condition and the quality of emotion is the same. For instance, you find a lady in Ogbomosho in Nigeria speaking English with a Scottish accent fluently. That creates a mental tension for both the British and Nigerians alike because they are not used to seeing that. In fact, that is not what is supposed to be. There must have been a deliberate effort, a creative effort or a combination of both to achieve such a feat.

It’s the same thing that happens when you see a Yoruba person singing Spanish songs with a clean accent and enunciation. It’s not impossible but it just keeps you in awe. Another example would be seeing French children perfectly dancing the Igbo ‘Atilogu’ choreography in Igbo attire.

So how does this affect you?

If you are a singer you can see if there is a niche for you to explore this.

Aside from that, you can also be a music coach, there can never be too many. Many children are born every day and some of them are born singers that would need vocal coaching by the time you’re ready to teach. Of course, that depends on your level of proficiency.

Lastly, study top accounts on TikTok that sing and learn a thing or two from them. I don’t mean the popular musicians in your country. I mean Social Media famous musicians.

If you’re a Nigerian, you probably have heard of Ola of Lagos, but what about Ola of Ghetto?

Ola of Lagos is a luxury guy who talks about luxury products, services, and luxuriant living in general. He currently has 2.9M followers on Instagram.

Ola of Ghetto is the exact opposite of Ola of Lagos. He mimics Ola of Lagos but makes very cheap or useless products look as though they were expensive and reserved for the elites. For instance, he could go to an abandoned building and claim that the building is worth $200MM.

It does sound hilarious but that has brought this fellow up to 180.6k followers on TikTok and 3.5k subscribers on YouTube. Remember that YouTube’s qualification for monetization is 500 subscribers and 3,000 watch hours.  This guy is growing fast and in a short while, He’ll be printing money from being a legitimate clone of another influencer but in a creative way.

Mimicry – son_oftheprophet

Son of the Prophet is a Mimic of Bishop David Oyedepo of Winners Chapel.

His mimicry has built him a brand that is popular on Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube. He has been called to several Christian gatherings to perform. This means he now gets gigs just to speak like Bishop David Oyedepo. On Instagram, he currently has 112k followers on Instagram 88.9k Subscribers on YouTube.

There are definitely many more examples, these are the 2 I can think of for now.

How can you make use of this?

If you’re good with mimicry, you can select a niche you’ll focus on and:

1. create content on Social Media

2. Sell mimicry services on Fiverr.

You’ll notice that in the first example I mentioned, Ola of Ghetto doesn’t necessarily need to be good at mimicry since he is technically not mimicking but imitating. The focus is not on the character or personality of Ola of Lagos but on the content that he is creating. This can also be called a parody account.

Playing on Words – @iamDavidsyn

If you enjoy playing on words, you need to take a look at David and take a cue from him. David plays on words creatively but passes salient messages. He has  278.8k followers on TikTok and more than 11k subscribers on YouTube currently. David’s content is captivating and easy to understand.

David offers general advice but as I have said severally, you can niche. Choose a specific area to create content around and you will see what sticks.

Question 4: Who are you based on your biological relationships?

This is an interesting one, but do you know people make money from just being a mom or even a twin? There are thousands of examples but I’ll take a few. Below are some examples of biological positions people make money in.

Examples of biological relationships

  • Are you a twin?
  • Are you a mother?
  • Are you a father?
  • Are you a single mom?

Examples of People Making Money with Biological Relationships

Are these the only triplets in Nigeria? Certainly, No!

Are there other female triplets in Nigeria, most likely yes.

But these triplets have decided to take advantage of being born as multiples.

Tomisin, Tomiwa, and Toni currently have 3.3M followers on TikTok.

On their YouTube channel, they have 195k Subscribers which means they are most likely making money from the channel.

According to Social Blade, they make about $389 – $6.2K monthly from that channel.

Retrieved on June 1, 2024

On Instagram, they also have 264.3k followers.

From the video above you see another set of male twins.

So are there twins making waves on SM too? Yes

Twinz_Love

Oladimeji Moyin and Doyin are a set of twins with 1.4M followers on Instagram.

According to their story, their father left them because he didn’t want twins.

But their story didn’t end that way.

Now they have established businesses, they sell courses and make money from influencing.

Lagos Mums

There are several examples of mums who create content and make money from Nigeria. But I am making an example of this because of her unique approach.

This woman combines two situations.

  1. She is a mum
  2. She Lives in Lagos

With this, she is able to build a community of moms. On Instagram, she has 65.6k followers.

And interestingly, she has an effective website that has thousands of content.

So she is able to:

a. Make money from Display Ads (she has Google Adsense on the site)

b. She can sell Ad space to companies

c. She can build a newsletter audience and make money from affiliate marketing

Owning a website opens up more opportunities for money.

So what is your current reality, can you build a community around it?

There are many opportunities that still exist. For instance, I am building a community of Nigerians who are working remotely or making money online. You can combine 2 or 3 of your realities to make something unique. The most important thing is to ensure the community meets the needs of people.

Question 5: What Phase of Life are you at?

At any phase of your life that you are in, there are people who are in that same phase of life at:

  1. the exact time you are in it
  2. or will be in the exact phase sometime after you have gone through it.
  3. or have gone through the same phase.

People who fall in any of these categories will need or want content from someone who has the same experience because of the following reasons.

  1. Learn how to overcome the challenges of the phase or find valuable lessons that can help them in the journey.
  2. Just experience comfort in the fact that someone else in the world is or has been in their shoes. It feels good to know you’re not the weird one. That is one not being the only one like you in the world is a good thing.
  3. Have fun seeing hilarious ways of various ways people deal/dealt with the same situation that you (are) experiencing/experienced.
  4. Find something they can perfectly relate to.
  5. Have a glimpse into a situation they can never experience. For instance, a married man watching a woman talking about her birth experience – he can never experience that phase but it helps him understand his wife’s position when she is in that phase.

So whatever phase you’re in, there is a way to help others by making content from it. Even if the help you offer is in offering them humor, it is a big deal. Remember that at the center of wealth is ‘solving people’s problems’.

Documenting your ‘phase’ can help many other people find solutions or gain an understanding on what the solution is not. If it doesn’t do any of that, it can also help someone see if their experience is unique or it is typical.

Examples of phases of life

  • Are you in school?
  • Are you pregnant?
  • Are you learning?

Let’s take some examples of people who are building a personality around their current phases.

Goodness Adeosun

Goodness is currently studying Medicine but at the same time, she makes shoes. She documents her processes of making shoes and taking orders as a Medical student. What will happen after she passes through the educational phase? A lot can happen especially as she already has 30.5k followers on TikTok.

This lady is currently studying in Benin Republic but she is a Nigerian.

This may not be a fascinating example because she just has 3k followers on TikTok, but it’s a good example because she is taking advantage of a phase in her life.

She creates content about what Nigerians would like to know about the Benin Republic and also create content about what Beninese would like to know about Nigeria.

Unlike Oluwabunmi, fluent_parleur has 23.8k followers creating content as a Nigerian working in France.

Working is not as much a phase as schooling, that is why I didn’t consider it perfect for this category.

But there is definitely a lot to learn from Stephanie ( Fluent Parleur) as well.

Toyyeebah_in_Korea currently has 63.7k followers. So this proves that you can have more than 3k followers just by exposing people of different cultures to each other.

Is having less than 10k Followers Useless?

No! I thought to explain this since I mentioned that Oluwabunmi has about 3k+ followers on TikTok at the time of this writing. The number of followers you have is not as important as the demography of the followers.

I mean, having a hyper-specific type of followers can be more lucrative than having millions of followers who don’t have any common attributes. For instance, someone who talks about maintaining Ferrari Cars might have about 2k followers. But he would be able to make more money than a comedian who has 500k followers who are not ready to buy anything but just have fun.

The guy with Ferrari content can easily make money from Affiliate marketing because anyone using a Ferrari will have a high purchasing power, and they are ready to buy any good product that will sustain their feeling of being in the ‘luxury class’.

The Ferrari content guy, having a ready audience of Ferrari owners can easily get sponsorship deals with companies that want to reach luxury car users.

The comedian doesn’t have a specific audience, his audience can include women, men, teenagers, etc. While the Ferrari guy would likely have established men & women in their 50s or later, living in the best parts of their cities.

The more specific your audience is, the more powerful it is, and the easier you can make money from them.

Question 6: What are you Learning?

At every point in our lives, we have different topics or subjects that we study as we progress.

Fortunately, many people are also interested in what we are learning at different stages.

There are 2 major positions from which you can build an audience:

  1. As a Master, Expert, or someone who seemingly knows it all.
  2. As a Learner, someone who is on a journey, trying out new things.

The second is easier and everyone can do it.

You can carry other people along on your journey as you learn a skill, or about a topic.

This is quite important to some people than you can imagine.

Let me give you some reasons why ‘learning in public’ can be useful to an audience.

  1. Some people learn faster when they are taught by someone else who is learning the same thing they are trying to assimilate.
  2. Learning a topic publicly show you are on a path to expertise and gets the attention of people who may need your service in the future.
  3. Successfully progressing to a reasonable measure of a curriculum shows you have some discipline. That is an attraction for some.

So is there anything you’re learning that you can build an audience around?

This can be anything at all, at can be formal or non-formal learning. It can be handiwork, skilled labor, online courses, etc.

Can you imagine someone learning how to sew (or fashion design) that documents the whole process of learning from day 1? I mean someone who is a rookie, I mean, knows nothing about sewing.

Do you know what that can do?

  1. It will attract people who want to learn fashion design but are scared and not sure if they can learn successfully or not
  2. It will attract fashion design experts who are curious to see if there is a better route than the one they followed.
  3. It will attract fellow fashion design learners who want to see how someone else in their shoes is progressing
  4. It will attract fashion enthusiasts who just want to see how good this person would be, especially if they are self-learning.

You see, that is just an example. You can do that for any other thing at all. For instance, you probably like to learn Data Analysis and you have never done anything related to it before. Examples of things you would likely document are:

  1. Search with me as I look for the best courses to get me started with Data Analysis
  2. The first course I am taking as a Data Analyst Beginner
  3. My challenges while learning Data Analysis
  4. How much I have spent on courses while learning data analysis
  5. The best free data analysis courses I have taken
  6. What I have learned in 2 weeks of learning data analysis.
  7. The courses I wasted my time & money on, don’t make the same mistakes.

On and on it goes. Now all of this content you creating are from the position of a learner. You would be surprised to see how fast you’ll grow.

If for any reason, you don’t have anything to learn, you can create an experiment specifically for this. As a hair enthusiast, you can decide to cut your hair entirely and grow it back from scratch while applying the information you have acquired about natural hair growth. You do all all of these publicly, in fact, you can film the process of cutting your hair.

The concept of learning while carrying other people (including total strangers) along is called – Learning in Public.

If you do a search for ‘learning in public’ on YouTube, you’ll see a couple of examples.

For now, I’ll take one example.

Examples of Learning Areas

  • Handiwork
  • Digital Skills
  • Experiments
  • Non-Digital Skills

Examples of People Making Money While Learning

mimiokigbo

Mimi Okigbo is on a journey to consistency and she is helping others achieve consistency. She proves that there is no excuse for not doing what you ought to do. In a few months after starting her Instagram account, she has gathered more than 15k followers.

What can you do with this?

You can create an account to consistently do one thing every day, for instance, pray for 15 minutes every day, read a book every day, or do something else that is related to your niche.

Abao in Tokyo

This video was streamed live on April 14, 2022, and since then it has gathered 17 million views.

The channel itself has 1.19 million subscribers. What the owner basically does is record himself studying, in fact, the videos are faceless and voiceless but he adds a relaxing music background and that’s likely one of the reasons the videos get millions of views.

According to Social Blade, this channel makes about $250 – $4k monthly. That’s basically an underestimation.

Even with that making $4k monthly with videos that you made once and for all is pretty lucrative.

I believe this is enough motivation, the next question somehow ties into the current model that Abao is using.

Abao highlighting ‘in Tokyo’ suggests that he is not an indigene of Tokyo but he uses that as a point of attraction.

Question 7: Where is your Geographical Location?

Where are you?

Are you in Nigeria, if yes, what state? Is there anything unique about where you are or is there anything unique about you being in your location? For instance, are you an Igbo guy living close to the palace of a Yoruba king? Are you a corp member serving in a place you’ve never being to in your life? In fact, do you know you can film your whole journey to your camp and that will help other corp members that will ever serve in that location?

If you are not in Nigeria, and you’re a Nigerian, that is already unique. I earlier made an example of Toyyeebah_in_Korea.

Examples of Geographical Locations

  • Where is your school located?
  • Where is your PPA?
  • Do you live in a village?
  • Do you live on the Island?

Angella Summer Namubiru

Angella is a Ugandan who makes content about living in mud houses in Africa.

Angella currently has 6.2M followers on TikTok, 629k followers on Instagram 2.04 Million Followers on YouTube.

Estimating how much she earns monthly will be pointless. Aside, from making money from Social Media, she works as a model and Social Media has made her famous opening doors to more deals. She runs her businesses which Social Media is also a backbone for.

When she started, her content was completely voiceless. I mean, she just takes videos of her in the village house, sometimes fetching water and smiling. She got the attention of curious people who liked to know what living in such areas felt like.

Their comments gave her content ideas as she responds with new videos, today she is one of the most influential women in Uganda.

Charity Ekezie

Charity doesn’t perfectly fall into this category but she deserves a mention here. Charity Ekezie does one thing – she dispels Negative stereotypes about Africa but she is able to do that only because she is in Africa and that’s why I included her here.

Charity creatively and sarcastically responds to negative opinions Westerners have about Africans and that has earned her millions of followers on Social Media. If you have read my previous questions you would have seen how Social Media following can translate to money.

Charity has 498k followers on Instagram, 3.2M followers on TikTok, and 844.4k Subscribers on YouTube.

What she does is very simple, there are simple questions any African can answer. So should you do something like that and compete with her?

Not exactly!

There are 1 million and 1 questions you can answer about different locations. For instance, if you are in the Northern part of Nigeria, you can clear up some stereotypes Nigerians have about the North. Apart from location, you can clear up stereotypes about:

  1. a tribe you belong to
  2. a language you speak
  3. Nigerian men/women
  4. African men/women
  5. Pregnancy
  6. Your religion
  7. Any other thing you specialize in or you’re an expert at.

The key is for you to choose a ‘niche’. Choose a tiny aspect of a thing and focus on it. If someone has focused on Africa, you can choose an African country, a state in Africa, or even African foods.

While reading this, if at any point you discover something you need to work on, you can stop reading and go to execute.

Question 8: What do you sell?

Anything that you sell offline, can either be sold online or at the least be marketed online. If you’re making N100k monthly selling a physical service or a physical product then you can make up to 1M monthly if you market strategically online.

Note that this is not limited to just physical products even physical services can take advantage of the Internet for marketing.

For example, this plumber:

educates his audience about water and plumbing-related topics. This does 4 things for him:

  1. Gets him more visibility, so more clients to work with.
  2. Establishes him as an authority, thereby earning the trust of companies and brands that would like to partner with him
  3. Gives him the opportunity to make money directly from the Social Media platform that he is on.
  4. Gives him the opportunity to advertise for brands.

So there is no profession that cannot be taken online. Aside from Social Media:

  1. Create a Google Business Profile
  2. Create a website that showcases your portfolio

I look forward to seeing more physical servicer renderers taking advantage of the internet space. For now, I don’t know one Vulcanizer who is visible on the internet but I know a mechanic.

ayomatics_limited

Sofela Adebolanle is an Automobile Mechanic, she makes her services visible through Instagram and makes money from other means apart from just fixing car issues.

Actively creating content about her work makes her unique and obviously different from other automobile mechanics. Because of this:

  1. She becomes visible to high-paying clients.
  2. She has training courses she offers to car owners and other mechanics.
  3. She can make money directly from Instagram shop,
  4. She can make money by advertising car-related products to her car-ready audience.

You see, the opportunities are endless. Let’s look at one or 2 examples of people who sell physical products.

Eleran Asiko

Apart from the Instagram, this lady also has a functional website at – https://eleranasiko.com/

In addition to that, she has a Google Profile which means people can find her when they search ‘meat seller near me’. I mean those in Lagos not far from where her registered office is.

If you sell any physical service or physical product, make sure you create a Google Business Profile, you can start by clicking here.

Corporate Ewa

Someone is making money by just selling beans on Instagram. I mean nothing but only beans. Take a look.

Question 9: What Language Do You Speak?

Any language you can speak is an asset, whether a Nigerian language or a non-Nigerian language.

Here are some ways you can make money with a language you speak:

  1. Work remotely, especially as a customer service agent.
  2. Create content on Social Media in a unique language.

The second method is somewhat new. People now create content in Nigerian languages and that opens them up to unique audiences. Let’s take an example.

Examples of People Making Money with Language

  2. People who understand English but also don’t mind learning with Yoruba.

She currently has 247.5k followers on TikTok.

Are there other opportunities?

Yes, myriads of them.

Any skill you have, you can teach others how to acquire it in your local language and you’ll have an audience.

This guy teaches Mathematics, using Nigerian Pidgin English. He has 44.1k followers on TikTok at the moment.

These followers will include schools, school administrators, parents, and students making his target audience well-defined and easy to monetize. The more targeted your audience is the better it is.

Now to a unique example.

Michael Adegoke on Amazon

This is a book I wrote and published on Amazon. Note: I am not an expert Nigerian Pidgin English speaker, in fact, I qualify as a beginner.

But I make money in $ through Nigerian Pidgin English with this book. How?

  1. I gathered some popular Nigerian Pidgin proverbs. I didn’t create one.
  2. I interpreted them in English
  3. I discussed their linguistic and literary features (with my knowledge of English)
  4. I designed an illustration to go with each proverb (I do Graphics Design)
  5. Edited and published on Amazon.

Now I get people buying the book from several countries of the world. You would be surprised to see how curious people are about Nigeria and Nigerians.

Here is my last example.

darrylcvega

Not a perfect example, because the main attraction of his content doesn’t rely on language but there is a mental tension that tints his videos. This is what I mean.

Darryl lives in the US but he creates content with a Nigerian English Accent. So you’re drawn to his American-themed and set content but the accent is Nigerian and again he doesn’t look obviously Nigerian, he can pass for a Black American. This language keeps you glued and listening while contemplating whether Darryl is Nigerian or not. If you poke further into his content, you even discover that he can switch to an American accent.

This language phenomenon draws Nigerians and Africans alike to him, while Americans are entertained by the humorous content he creates.

This has produced 837.4K followers for Darryl on TikTok.

Question 10: What are You Less Advantaged at?

Mind the construction I used, ‘less-advantaged’ not ‘disadvantaged’. Interestingly, that attribute of you or your life that seems not so advantageous can be turned around to be the reason you’re making money.

Examples of People Making with Disadvantages

Hannah Maruyama

According to the story published by CNBC, Hannah was able to build a successful career and business without a degree.

Not having a degree used to be a disadvantage but it is no longer so. Her story exemplifies many of the concepts I have spoken about here but I’ll like to focus on a part.

While she started looking for a good-paying job without a degree, she went up to TikTok and started making videos about her experience. This ties in with learning/building in public that I spoke about earlier. But the point of interest here is the fact that she had no degree.

And that drew people to her content, thereby leading to another source of revenue for her. Her videos started getting up to 500k views and then she was motivated to create more videos.

A lot of people could resonate with the so-called ‘less advantage’ and she created a community where teenagers and people in their 20s could discover how to build a lucrative career without a degree.

On the homepage of their community called ‘DegreeFree’ – they wrote:

College Isn’t the Only Path to Success

Discover the Degree Free Way!
Imagine a future where your child thrives, without sinking 4+ years and a fortune into college.

Together, we’ll spotlight their passions and talents, and craft a future that doesn’t leave them with $100,000+ debt.

Degree Free

As of 2023, the community had generated up to$128k.

You can read her full story here.

So whatever limitation you have, you can:

  1. Find a way around it. There is always a way
  2. Document your process of working around it
  3. Make training about your way around it.

Madam Oyin & Family

Madam Oyin and her husband refused to allow the husband’s situation to limit them. Instead, they make content around his posture and they have built an online audience. Their page currently has 119k followers.

Question 11: What are you educated at?

Now for those who have degrees, I know we are in the era where your degree no longer determines whether you’ll be successful or not but still, degrees are not useless.

In the story I told in the previous question, one of the things Hannah did at first was to take a course to become a Salesforce certified administrator. That got her her first job for $70k monthly.

One of the advantages we have now is that there are many certification courses you can take that will match up to a degree or even outvalue it. For instance, there are many courses you can take to become a developer and get a good-paying job without having a Computer Science degree.

So back to focus, I know we’re talking about something you’re already educated at and not what you should go learn. How can you make money with your education? Before I go into that, let me briefly discuss what the conventional ways of making money with degrees are.

  1. Working for a company – regular 9 to 5.
  2. Working remotely for a company abroad
  3. Working as a Freelancer.
  4. Starting a Physical business

Examples of Educational qualifications

  • Degree (ND, HND, BSC, etc.)
  • Certificate Courses
  • Apprenticeship
  • Self-learned skills

Examples of People Making Money with Education

Egemba Chinonso Fidelis (@aproko_doctor)

Aprko Doctor is a certified Medical Doctor but instead of going the conventional route, he chose to create educating content on Social Media. Has that worked for him? Yes, it has.

He has gotten several advertorial partnerships with brands. His presence on Social Media grew so much that he has also moved into TV, appearing on several African Magic programs.

On Instagram, he has up to 1.7M followers at the moment.

Is there still space for you?

I know that for any course you studied in a Nigerian Tertiary Institution, there are hundreds, if not thousands that studied the same course in the same class. So how do you stand out? Niching.

There is space for everyone in the sky, if we have exhausted the land mass.

Let’s take a case study. Mr Romeo studied Music, can sing, and plays many musical instruments. Mr Romeo begins doing home lessons for people who like to play the keyboard or guitar. From this, Romeo earns N20k per student monthly. No matter how good Romeo is, he might not be able to teach more than 7 students per month that is if he dedicates one day to each student which is definitely not realistic. Even if it was, Romeo cannot make more than N140k monthly with so much stress.

If Romeo decides to start teaching everything he teaches his students online reaching thousands or millions of people, it opens him up to more income opportunities.

I mean teaching Romeo begins to teach people online for free what he will normally get paid to teach 2 students. Sometimes, offering value for free is more lucrative than getting paid.

If Romeo begins to teach this on TikTok, YouTube, or even Facebook with a lot of videos, if the videos are valuable, in no time he will:

  1. have a lot of followership.
  2. Get monetized
  3. Make money from brand deals
  4. Become famous
  5. More money comes

It takes longer to make money this way but once the money begins to come, it multiplies effortlessly.

A few points I should make about making money here.

Going back to Mr Romeo’s case study, if Romeo wants to get some good results fast, he will have to niche. By the way, if there are 5000 people teaching how to play Guitar online, they will all have a large audience if they are really good at what they do. To start with, there are more than 200M people in Nigeria, if you teach in English then any other English-speaking African country can learn from you, in fact, anyone on earth who understands English can learn. In addition to that, each human is different, your teaching style might appeal to a certain audience and not the other.

But for effectiveness, Romeo can decide to teach children or even elderly ones. This requires him to fashion his content in a way that is very easy for his target audience to understand. Having a defined audience makes it easier for him to have brand partnerships. For instance, if he focuses on children, he might get brand partnerships with schools unlike when he is just teaching everyone. If he focuses on elderly ones, he might get deals with Musical Instrument producing companies who want to advertise. In fact, if they don’t come to him, he can pitch to them. The elderly are financially stable and can afford a lot of things. He can even record personalized videos for some elders who are ready to pay highly.

How to Make Money with your Degree/Certification etc.

  1. Creating educative content about what you studied
  2. Creating a community of people who studied what you studied and how they are achieving success

Question 12: What attributes do you have?

By attributes, I mean your character, attitude, habits, etc. either good or bad. I didn’t make a mistake, even your bad habits can help you make money. For instance, if you are addicted to a particular drink, let’s say a soft drink and you’re on a journey to overcoming it, you can create content around your explorations of solutions. People who have the same addictions as you will follow you along the journey and that will give you a base on Social Media. Any social following can be monetized, strategically.

Examples of Attributes People Make Money with

  • Are you clean?
  • Are you dirty?
  • Are you an introvert?
  • Are you an extrovert?

The video above has 38.5 Million views. Well views itself are not money, so did it translate to money? Yes, it did.

Her videos got the attention of people from both Nigerians and people outside Nigerians. People started donating for her to get a better home.

The attributes that made Francisca stand out are:

  1. Her neatness.
  2. Her organization
  3. Her refusal to be limited by her circumstances (resilience)
  4. Her excellence (while editing the video)

Even though she didn’t have money, she was very clean and organized.

Question 13: What activity do you carry out daily?

Every human being carries out at least one activity daily. That’s why you’ll see people creating ‘get ready with me’ videos and they are getting thousands of people to watch. Beyond those kinds of generalist content, what activity do you carry out every day that is somewhat not common? It may or may not require skilled labor.
Anything that you do daily can be a source of content creation and it can lead to passive income.

If for instance, you sell food an activity you carry out daily will be – cooking. Whether you’re an expert or not doesn’t really matter.

What you do daily might be your 9 – 5 job, it could be your handiwork or anything else.

This kind of pulls in other activities under the other questions.

Question 18:  What unusual situation do you have?

There are many things that can be unusual about you. By ‘Unusual’, I mean anything that doesn’t follow the regular order that people would normally expect but at the same time it causes no harm. For example, being left-handed here in Nigeria is an admirable phenomenon especially when one can comfortably do what others do with their right hand with the left. If you’re an artist who draws with the left hand, then you already have a source of attraction apart from the quality of your drawing which could also be an attraction. So the unusual thing could be:

  1. Physical
  2. Mental
  3. Societal
  4. Aesthetic
  5. Creative

It could mean having a different opinion from others which turns out to be true. It could be in terms of your design style, it could be anything else that disrupts the regular thinking.

Question 19: What profession do you practice?

If you have a profession, it’s safe to assume you’re already making money from it either from working on your own or doing a 9 – 5 job. But you can make more money if you begin to create content around your profession.

Examples of People Making Money with Their Professions with the Internet

Teacher Chike

Teacher Chike has become popular and in fact, an influencer by just documenting his amazing teaching skills. He is now also a guest speaker at many events and, at the same time an authoritative voice in the teaching space. It all started by creating content around his daily work.

He currently has 161k followers on Instagram and 7.63k subscribers on YouTube.

Question 20:  What do you enjoy doing?

Anything you enjoy doing can be a multi-dimensional source of money for you. Of course, you may not enjoy your profession but there will be something that you do without stress. Some people like talking or even talking about a particular aspect of life, for example, politics. While others are busy arguing about Nigerian politics for no profits, there are people who make money from theirs at least one that I know. Maybe you noticed that you are sarcastic when talking, instead of insulting people and making them cry why not make money out of that ability that you enjoy without hurting anyone? The person I mentioned earlier combines all these 3.

She is a political satirist ‘laughing through African Politics’.

Adeola Fayehun

Adeola has 692k subscribers on her YouTube channel. YouTube monetization on its own is a big deal, and there are many more opportunities she has for building a large fan base in that niche.

Question 21: What is your Marital Relationship like?

Creating content around any marriage at all can be a source of income. There are many Social Media accounts like that today, for example – renzandmo, akahandclaire, etc. But there are some kinds of couples that have a twist to them and that makes them more interesting. The couples could be interracial, inter-tribal, etc.

For this, I’ll give you just an example.

joe and Alena

This Korean man decided to marry a Ugandan woman.

Creating content around their marriage has yielded 2.48M subscribers on YouTube. A similar example is – itsonyambu who have 2.46 subscribers on their YouTube channel.

Working with Fiverr

Fiverr is a freelancing platform that both skilled and unskilled people can participate in to sell one or more things they are good at digitally. Contrary to what many think, there are some services being rendered on Fiverr that don’t require many skills. I’ll show you some examples. While you’ve answered all the 21 questions I mentioned, apart from Social Media you can create gigs relating to your abilities on Fiverr. That opens up the opportunity for people all over the world to work with you.

Examples of Weird Fiverr Niches

I suggest that you

  1. Create an account on Fiverr
  2. Check the categories that your abilities fall under
  3. See what others are doing already
  4. Create your own gigs, while taking advantage of the power of niching.

I talk more about Fiverr and its optimization in my other courses, check the course to learn more about Fiverr.

The End

From all I’ve discussed, you’ll notice everything revolves majorly around creating content on Social Media.

That is because the world is moving towards a place where your personal brand is your biggest asset, not just your skills, talents, or education. It would be a combination of all these. Your personality will be your most lucrative source of income.

This tweet summarizes my position.
