A2 Hosting is Rebranding to hosting.com

I have been a user of A2 Hosting for more than 4 years, and I can say that it’s one of the most underrated hosting companies.

Since my experience with them has been all the way good, I have introduced them to 2 of my clients who are also happy to be with them. A2 Hosting offers the value that other hosting companies like Siteground, Hostinger, etc, at a lower cost that is almost a steal.

A2 Hosting recently sent a mail that they are rebranding to – hosting.com, I believe this is should be one of their attempts to change the image of A2 Hosting and create a buzz around their products.

Most of the other hosting companies have partnerships in place that put them at the face of website owners, for instance, Bluehost has been officially recommended by WordPress for a long time, many big YouTubers recommend Siteground, etc. But A2 Hosting has been somehow foregrounded even though they have an affiliate program that is as good as what other hosting companies offer.

These are my thoughts about the rebrand.

1. Hosting.com is easier to say and it’s more memorable. It has 2 less syllables than the previous ‘A2 Hosting’.

2. The name sounds fresh, and that can help reintroduce them to many website owners. People are always interested in new products, companies, etc, looking forward to what they would do differently.

3. Hosting.com sounds classy, and it’s also very central to the core of the company’s service – hosting. In fact, the domain name is a premium one any hosting company would love to own.

Interestingly, they have had this name as early as 30 May 2002, but it was redirected to a2hosting.com according to the Wayback Machine.

I wonder why it wasn’t their main domain name in the first place. Maybe SEO reasons.

4. And that is my next thought – they would have a lot of work to do concerning Search Engine Optimization.

Ranking for ‘hosting’ would be a lot of work, because: first, it’s a generic English word; second, many web hosting companies have ads being run on the word hosting. It’s fairly easier to rank for A2 Hosting than for Hosting.com, but I believe it took them to make this decision, and they must have everything planned out.

What does this mean for users?

I can safely assume that A2 Hosting (hosting.com) is fighting hard to expand their customer base in the midst of stiff competition – this would lead them to make more decisions to entice more new customers and also lock in the current ones. So it’s a win for us.

Aside from that, we get a new user interface that is easier to work with (according to their promise)

Their 99.99% uptime remains the same. I have tested this for more than 4 years to see that it’s not just a promise – it’s true.

Their features for each hosting package remain the same, even with a cheaper price. I use the Accel plan, which offers unlimited websites, and that is truly unlimited. I have more than 15 websites currently hosted without problems.

A2 vs Siteground

Siteground also promises unlimited websites on their GrowBig plan, which costs $29.99/mo instead of the $15.99 that A2 Hosting costs, but I had to leave when they told me my node capacity was exhausted. They have a 400,000 node capacity, which is not stated until you hit the limit, while A2 Hosting has 600, 000 node limit.

So –

  1. You get nearly 3 times more node capacity per dollar with A2 Hosting
  2. A2 Hosting Accel is about 47% less expensive than SiteGround GrowBig

If you are not on A2 Hosting, you can consider joining now, you get up to 84% off in your first year.

A2 Hosting Review

I did a comprehensive review of A2 in this video. If you prefer to read, here is a post on all you need to know about A2 Hosting.

Anyway, these are my thoughts about A2 Hosting rebrand – I am optimistic about it, and I wish all existing and prospective customers the best in their online businesses.

Disclosure: If you buy with my links, I might earn some commission, but I am honestly recommending hosting.com because I have enjoyed their services.
